For Students

If you would like to be involved in the ViTA project:

Please speak to your teacher about your interest.  Feel free to direct him or her to this site.  You may contact us directly (and we can get in touch with your teacher), or you can ask your teacher to get in contact.  Our email address is writingprogramsasu@gmail.com.

Kat and Hu look over her draft together.

If your class is already involved in the ViTA project:

  • Before your scheduled picture day, please take a moment to browse through the photos from previous classes and read the introduction page .  Feel free to ask any questions that you may have to us at writingprogramsasu@gmail.com.
  • On your scheduled picture day, a photographer will come and remind you about the ViTA project.  You will be asked to sign two forms: One is a model release, which allow Writing Programs to use your pictures in future documents, such as here on the ViTA blog or on our Facebook page.  The other form is a consent form, which clarifies the goals of the project and ensures you understand your rights.  You are not required to take part in ViTA.  Choosing not to take part does not hurt your grade or standing with the Writing Programs in any way.

  • As the photographer goes about taking pictures, please continue business as usual.  We don’t want to disrupt your class, but we also prefer to get pictures of the activity “in action” to really showcase what Writing Programs are like.  If you’ve chosen not to participate in ViTA, the photographer may accidentally still get a few shots with you in the background.  You will be cropped out of these shots or they will be deleted.
  • Within a few weeks of the photographer’s visit, your teacher will sent you a link to the pictures posted on ViTA.  We encourage you to comment on the pictures to give your own account of what was happening in the shots.  If you like any of the pictures, there are several “share” buttons at the bottom of the page.  Feel free to share any of the pictures on your own Facebook wall or Twitter feed.
